It is estimated that approximately 50-60% of the dementia population has Alzheimer’s. According to the National Institute of Aging, Alzheimer’s is identified as the fourth leading cause of death among the elderly. The highest risk factors associated with Alzheimer’s is old age. So how do we protect ourselves?
One protective factor is having a rich social network. Learning new information, or a new skill amongst peers and friends helps decrease the risk because we are using our neural networks to form new pathways.

Yet, even though there are fabulous activities for Seniors to join, if there is no initiation on one’s part, it does not matter the multitude of services.
